440 ICD

Post by JD440ICD2006 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 8:12 pm

I have a 440 ICD with no serial number tag. The decals are partially visible under a layer of paint and they are the bold, not the script. So that makes me think it is not a 1958.
Anyone have a way of telling the year without a tag on it? Anyone have a 1959 serial number tag they do not need?

Diesels did not come out until 1959, so it has to be a 59 or 60.
Only other giveaway that I can think of is if it is center throttle, then it is a 1960.

Serial number tag for 1959 440

Post by JD440ICD2006 » Wed Aug 23, 2006 9:25 am

Lavoy,

Thanks for that info. I will "make it" a 1959 if I can find the correct tag, know where I can get one for a 440 ICD?

Didn't the later ones have the bigger bolts in the reverser or was that a special oreder?

I don't remember when that occured, it could be that all diesels had that, and the late gasses.
