I posted the other day about excessive pressure in my fuel tank.
Its a 420 - 1957
A fella I know suggested that an intake valve can stick and cause pressure in the fuel tank. I guess I'm curious if anyone has heard of this?

Hi,
Um, no. It would just backfire thru the carb and air cleaner.

Hi,
There is one thing which just occurred to me. I had to run in and post.
Your battery hold down!
If that battery moves around, it is all too easy that it contacts the tank bottom. This can be intermittent. So, rather than the battery catching fire under the gas tank, it could just heat the tank up.
That would force gas out in a hurry when you removed the cap.
And, on a crawler, it is a lot more likely that the battery wants to move around than on a wheel tractor.
I was just digging up a couple drain tubes today, and even that simple dozer job made for a lot of operating angles I never have on a tractor.
