need to sove this mode. help
just got this jd crawler, look like a 1010, not sure, obviously no date plate to be find. got this number of engine block. T17513T. found they were made for 1010 and 2010. is there such thing as a crawler 2010, can find any info. thanks again guys
Data plates for 1010s and early 2010s (less than 42,000 serial number) are found on right side engine block, about halfway down in center. Late 2010s (after 42,000) have serial number plate on left side bellhousing, just behind engine block.
If engine has been swapped ever and it was a 1010/early 2010 then you probably lost the data plate. However there are some clues-they are not absolute but when combined give an idea. I am basing this on the fact you already identified a engine block.
1) 1010s and 2010s have a 4 cylinder gas or diesel engine- sounds like you narrowed down to that. however the 1010 diesel and 2010 gas shared the same block- is yours a gas or diesel?
2) Does it have a spoked front idler rather than solid? If so then likely a 1010 (although solid front idlers were an option I believe).
3) Does it have a transmission shifter on the floor that says H-L-N-R? if so then a HLR transmission and is a 2010.
4) The part number on the sprocket can usually narrow it down right away- get that part number off the face of the sprocket.
5) how many links are in each track? 2010s have more than 1010s or earlier models.
These are just a few of many clues- best identifier absent the data plate is certain parts are unique like the sprockets.

This tells us you have the late model (post 42,000) sprockets. This is very desirable because it means you can use 350 track links. It does not necessarily mean you have a post 42,000 crawler because sprockets are interchangeable between the two serial number ranges, but with a few more "clues" could probably get to that determination. Did you check the left operator side bellhousing for a serial number data plate?kevencyr wrote:-the -on the sproket i got T19007T, again thank you

I don't want to speak for JT about 1010s and 2010s, but I would imagine he means that for a slightly larger size they have more HP, especially for a loader. They also have the ability, with a sprocket modification, to accept new 350 tracks. However both are the first of the "new generation" crawlers so are somewhat of a bridging crawler between the 2 cylinder crawlers based on ag designs and the crawlers based on industrial/construction and were somewhat of an "experiment".
It is not uncommon for the data plates on these, especially the early range on the engine, to be missing. It really doesn't affect parts ordering as you can usually narrow down with some of the other "clues" on parts that change based on serial number. These are to large degree related to undercarriage (sprockets and track links in particular) and some of the engine parts (injectors and glow plugs for diesels for example). We can help narrow it down for you more if needed but getting the free PDF parts manual online for the 2010 can really help you do it yourself.
There is actually still OK parts availability for the 2010, more than you would think for a 60 year old crawler- one of the good things about Deere. It just happens that some of the Deere only parts, like the deck sleeve for diesel engine rebuilds is really pricey. The parts that are NLA (no longer available) are some of the undercarriage parts- early S/N track links and I believe front idlers. That is why having the late S/N sprockets is such a good thing. As for sprockets, both type are also NLA. In my opinion this is one of the biggest drawbacks to a 2010.
