Nasty gas leak

Post by michaelkittrell » Sat Nov 14, 2015 2:13 pm

Quick post, because i gotta go meet someone about a chain saw, but I have a nasty gas leak here. Its in the hose that goes in to the cyclinder (central in the picture) and its not just a slow drip, its pretty substantial especially when its running. Fasteners seem pretty tight, so much so that I expect to break them if I try to tighten it (which I did try but its tight).

I'll be looking to fix that up today, but I just got sidetracked and be out for an hour or so.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Maybe I am not seeing it right, but that looks like the fuel filter on a diesel 440? I hope you don't have gas in it? Otherwise, you will likely have to pull the fittings off and see what the trouble is.

I agree most likely tubing is cracked. I just got done working on my 440 fuel system. I thought the line was leaking but it was the pump seals. Rebuilt pump with new shaft and seals. Now all is good

thanks for the advices. I didn't end up getting to take it apart yet, but I'll probably try and do that this weekend.

Can I get parts at the local JD dealer? or is this something I will end up going to a Lavoy or ebay for?
