5 roller 420c track pads

Post by woodsnwater » Thu Nov 19, 2015 10:16 am

I have 36 pads / links and am out of adjustment. I've counted tracks on 4 machines on google images and they all have 35. What is the stock number?

40c 5 roller has 35 shoes. Don't know if 420 is the same. An oversize idler will add one shoe
have 40c 4 roller crawler, 1927 Ford T Touring car, 1931 Ford A Roadster, 1951 Standard Vanguard Saloon. Never a dull moment!

The 420 five roller has 35 pads. The 440c has 36.The 40c and 420c four rollers have 31 with the small front idler 32 with the standard front idler.
If you have 36 on a 420 then no wonder that you have no adjustment left.JimAnderson

That's great news, so I should be able to take a link out. The bushings look new on the outside. I was afraid they were worn on the inside. There is no telling where these tracks came from, the machine appears to be a 420. (has a water pump) dip stick on left side. 1957? No serial # tag. The grill and hood appear to be off a model M tractor with a 40 sticker on it no less. Somebody cobbled together a good looking machine though. I like the old sheet metal.

That's funny. I'm glad I don't have to title it.
