Lifting a crawler.

Can the lower final drive covers on a 420 support the weight of the machine?

Yes.
When I have to work on my tracks, I back over a long 4x4 (or two small firewood logs), to get the pans up higher in the air. Then I block under them - snug. I then put a block of firewood or 8x8 under my blade to lift the front end of the machine and the tracks off the ground. Now the 4x4 can be removed, or not. I then use safety jack stands on 2x12 pads under the front cross member, and lower the machine onto them. I've found this to be a secure way to have the machine high enough in the air so that the machine can be run and the tracks spun. Handy for many tasks. Paul

I think it might have been one of your old posts that I read that in. I just wanted to make sure the pans could support all that weight.

Yeah, could be. I asked the same question of the board about 5 years ago. Stuff gets hashed and rehashed and I just shared a composite of what I learned and now do when needed. Paul
