430c final drive gears 16/63 & 14/55 question

Post by mc_mike » Sun Jan 31, 2016 12:32 pm

Going through my 430c and one side the final drive has 16 tooth pinion and 63 tooth driven, and the other side has 14 tooth pinion and 55 tooth driven. The gear ratio is slightly different 3.9375 to 3.9286 would this cause an issue or am I worried about nothing? I just rebuilt the one side with the 63 tooth version, doing the other side and trying to decide if I need to find the matching gears or not? Thanks for any and all info.

I ran into this problem when I needed a new pinion for mine. I'm pretty sure Lavoy said it would be ok, just might track to one side slightly.

Should be 14 and 55 in a 430, someone has put the gears or final from a 420 on there. It will function, but will drive in a large circle, and you will always be pulling on one steering lever to make it go straight.

As long as you're gears are in good shape I would run it.
Like whiteclipse said it will just pull to one side slightly.
nothing crawles like a deere

Thanks for the info. I kind of thought it would probably work as it did at one time before I got this crawler. I have another parts crawler that should have the matching gears I need, if it does I will make them the same. I just didn't want to tear the side I just rebuilt back apart to change the gears.
