conversion to altenator

Post by Joe Iannitto » Tue Sep 05, 2006 5:08 pm

I want to thank the group for the help, This weekend I changed my 1010 over to an altenator. The purchased leads and mounting bracket saved me a lot of time. When it was running I got about 14 volts out of it. It's now negative ground. I mounted the altenator in about the 10 o'clock position (looking down from the front). This seems to be the best position because of fan belt clearence. Speaking of the fan belt, what is the trick to replace it. It seems to get past the pump you would need to take the front end off. I just used a belt made up of links so I can take out a few links until I found the size I needed.

I think you will have to remove the radiator to replace the belt. I don't have a 1010 but I have to do that on the 420.

I was afraid of that. So far I have been having a lot of luck with link v-belt. From what I have found doing a sreach of the net this belt should be of for this application
