Post by mapaduke@yahoo.com » Sun Feb 07, 2016 7:56 am

What's the procedure for using the rivets that comes with the new mounting pads? I've been using machine screws.

Grind off the old rivet heads( or unscrew the screws), remove the old rubber mounts. Fit new mounts, placing the all the rivets in the same direction. You will need a proud 1/8 to 3/16" of the rivet sticking through the rubber mount. If they are longer you may have to trim the rivet back a bit with a sidearm grinder. Use an anvil/ scale weight or similar to hold the rivethead and peen the staight end of the rivet with a ball peen hammer. Only takes a few good peens and you are done. Repeat. Take care, Bruce

Rivets that came with my radiator aftermarket shock mounts were too small a diameter to use. I used small bolts and red lock tight and peened the ends close to the nuts. Should work, but not factory original.
