I'm still looking for a backhoe for my 440icd and I ran across a guy who has a jd400 and a parts tractor for $2,500.
The 400 apparently has seal issues and the previous owner ran it for years despite that. When he was done used would just drain the water out from the oil plug... Last run a week ago, drove fine, neither the hoe nor bucket maintain position over a day, tires hold air for at least 3 or 4 days.
So two thoughts... one if it fits I could just put the hoe on my 440. second thought... just drain it like he did... and someday (probably never) redo the engine. The parts tractor supposedly has a good engine and drive train, but I doubt it.
Nearest I can tell reading around, the 400 is close to the 2010 which means its a no go on putting the hoe on my 440 icd if I recall correctly.
jd400 backhoe fit on a 440 icd?

Unless you have a factory hoe crawler, you do not have the mounts, plumbing or pump capacity to mount the hoe.

If you have a hoe crawler, it will have the hoe diverter on the hyd valve and a rotating hoe seat.
