John Deere 2010 steering brake without function
Hello everybody,
in my 2010, steering brakes are probably stuck. The crawler has been stationary over 15 years, additional water has passed the steering brake into the housing.
This weekend we have built the engine together and we were able to run the chain drive. The 2010 jacked up, which makes the functional testing easier. However, the steering brakes operate the separation of the steering drive translucent to not work, neither right nor left.
Does anyone have an idea?
Excuse my English.
Greetings from Germany

Most likely the clutches are rusted together. Best bet is to take apart both clutches for inspection.

I would recommend opening the steering clutch inspection covers and seeing what happens when you put in gear and when you pull the steering levers. These plates are just to the left and right of the seat base. Each cover is rectangular and attached with four bolts.

I see now- hadn't seen the photos before. Yes probably need to go through the steering clutches.
I would also loosen the tracks some- they look so tight I was half expecting to see a photo of them flying off the undercarriage like a rubber band

The coverings of the steering brakes are probably not oil resistant, right? One could fill the entire case with diesel and soak first. But then when all coverings new need, you have probably done everything wrong
DO NOT put diesel/oil in the steering boxes IF there is any thing clutch wise in there that could be reused you will ruin it ..... word to the wise reline the brakes no matter what they look like

Did I already thought.
I will make it and remove the steering brakes. Before I look for an service manual for the 2010. Unfortunately, the German edition is very difficult to obtain.
Greetings from Germany and many thanks.

Have you tried contacting the John Deere bookstore about a German version?2010Crawler wrote:Before I look for an service manual for the 2010. Unfortunately, the German edition is very difficult to obtain.

Hi,
So, what is SM-2036 for? Says 2010 crawler tractor. Of course, that means drawbar crawler. No dozer or loader.
Perhaps that is an earlier version? All the early machines SM are for base crawlers, and the attachments have their own manuals. Later machines had manuals which included main attachments. Is the 2010 where that change began?
