A few days ago, I found a link to a parts book for 40 series tractors, including crawlers. I stumbled on to it somewhere in this web site (I think).
Apparently, I didn't save it properly, and now I can't find it.
Could someone help me out, please.
Also I have seen different numbers of clutch disc's to use in 40 C steering clutches. I've seen 6 and 7. I'm going to bit the bullet and replace the left side. Upon close inspection, it does not appear to be too bad a job.
I priced a set of disc's from Deere and they were or $200 each!! I see them on E-bay for $10 and up.
Also I think I saw a link here to the spec's for a clutch adjusting tool.
Does anyone recall that??
Thanks for any and all help!!

hi: here's a link to the JD catalogue site:
http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com. ... ng_code=19
Try this link first, It loads faster - I think.
http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/pdfs/PC0862.pdf
As for parts, check with Lavoy. I bought many of my final drive parts from him. His prices are fair and the parts of good quality.
Good luck. Paul

Thanks
Thanks to all who replied.
I bit the bullet and removed the final drive so I could get to the left clutch pac this afternoon.
Not a bad job at all.
After Studying several posts on this site, it made the job fairly easy.
Thanks, again to all who posted!!
