breather cap color

Post by ggfossen » Sun Sep 10, 2006 10:53 am

For a 1956 420c (green), does anyone know the correct original color for the air breather cap? After digging all the gunk from mine, it appears to have been yellow, originally. Red primer, yellow paint, and then green paint.

I also found a large ding, and a hole in the top of the breather/oil bath assembly. I tried my hand at "leading in" the ding, and then finished it with bond. Time will tell.

The cap should match the color of the crawler.

OK, thanks. I expect someone grabbed one off a different unit, at one time. The hydraulic pump can't decide if it's yellow or red, and I think the rear fender brackets probably came from something else. The holes had to be changed to make them fit. I guess that's all part of the game.
