How different are the early tracks from later style?

Thanks,

No, BO, MC and 40 links are the same. 420, 430, 440 links are the same. 1010, 2010 under 42,000 are the same.
BO and MC pads til the 19,000 serial number range are the same. Very late MC pads, 40, 420, 430, and 440 pads are the same. 1010, 2010, 350 pads are the same.
I think this is what you are asking?

I was of the understanding that there was a split in the 40 line on tracks.

Thanks
Duke

Hi,

Also, when working on these old machines, sometimes you find someone has put newer rails on. Like finding 4-bolt pads on a 440 for example. Or, even older rails on newer machines. So, then they don't match up. Easy to get all confused. ;)

If I were to rerail my 420, I would go to JD350 rails with rim sprockets welded onto cut down 420 sprockets. That would then confuse whomever wound up with it down the road.

Your right Stan, people had to do what ever they could do to get this running again and some times I appreciate the inginuity but for the most important I like to have mine as close to original as possible although I do have four bolt pads on my 430. lol
