Oil return on 440 blower

I have a 440 that i replaced the blower on the old one had a oil return line in the end place next to the bellhouseing the rebuild one doesn't is this something i need to get milled in the replacement one or can i put the return in to a differant place on the motor. the line comes out of the head it looks like someone has taken one of the knock out plugs out and put a sleave in it. it all looks like something someone has done after the fact. i don't want to make a big mistake and run it with out something being oil. i started it and moved it back to the shop but some oil blew out of the valve cover vent when it was at full thotle. Can some give me a direction on this
