brush hog for 420

Post by dwightsenter » Tue Sep 12, 2006 7:35 pm

My son is giving me a 420 crawler this fall. He is going to fix it up before he brings it to me. He lives in MA and I live in WV. My question is what size brush hog will it handle. I have a good son don't you think
My son has a 420 in MA. He is going to replace the tracks and a new clutch and bring it to me in wv

You have one heck of a good son it's usually the other way around. I don't think I would put over a 5' on it.

You have a great son.

I have borrowed my neighbor's 6 ft trailer bushog and used it behind my 40C. Works very well but I'm with Howard. I'm generally just mowing weeds but I can load it up pretty good in low spots with thick grass. A 5 ft would be much easier on the machine and don't forget to use a slip clutch on the PTO.

If it has four blades, all the better. I have a 5' that only had 2 blades when I got it. What a difference it made when I put 4 blades on it. I think it made it all that much easier on my machine when mowing and chopping up small trees. Just my nickels worth.
