Radiator fix

After pulling the radiator on my 420c, I found that 3 of the 4 welded on square mounting bolts (on the bottom) were broken off and some of the metal was missing.

I found a piece of 1 x 1/4 bar stock, cut it to the length that would fit from the inside, drilled holes in the proper places, and welded nuts to the back side of the bar stock. I then carefully weld/tacked the bar to the inside of the original mounting bracket, and ground off the excess. The metal is quite thin and soft for welding, but I managed to get it to hook on. These gadgets accept the original size bolts but only a bit longer. It seems that it will work, and should be stronger than the original.

Also, the little rubber mounting pieces are something that are common in the aircraft industry.

The radiator, itself, of course is in need of a thorough cleaning. It will go to the shop...soon.
