Working on a few repairs and a couple things that bug me.
Curious to know how you guys have your battery disconnect switches wired.
I've read mixed reviews, without clear direction, on hooking them up to positive or negative terminals.
Is it more wise to hook to negative - or to positive?
In regards to my frame rail portion of this post - I have a cracked frame rail. Left side, between reverser mounting holes and cross member mount on my 1010. Luck would have it, my parts machine also has a broken rail.
I can purchase a new rail for $300 from local fab shop, I would have to remove old back plate(that screws to clutch housing) from old rail and weld to new rail, or weld it here at the house for next to nothing. Anyone ever have luck welding these rails in this area and have it hold up?
Thanks for the input!

Hi,
Hook it in the hot lead. Does not matter if that is positive or negative, which is machine dependent.
What you don't want is to add additional copper wiring length to the side which is already at a relatively high resistance because the current is passing thru steel. And, wiring to and from a batt switch always adds resistance.

There are a large number of threads on this board discussing cracked cross frames for 350s and various ways to fix them (welding, etc.); it would probably be worth it to you to search for those to give you ideas.Mikeym70 wrote:In regards to my frame rail portion of this post - I have a cracked frame rail.
