That's what I think it is as well, I took the hood off yesterday and started to dig into it a bit but didn't get to far, I don't use the old girl muck but want it just to run when I do

Howdy Dusty, you might want to check your distributor, make sure it is advancing the timing properly, this can effect the engine power making it seem like the brakes have been applied. Of course what do I know I own a '56 420-l-c too
