Hood for 440 ICD
Hood for 440 ICD
Looking for a hood for my 440 ICD. Thought I had one but it turn out to be for a gas one, it was much shorter than what I needed.

Hood
The 440 IC and the 440 ICD hood dimensions are the same, the cutouts for the intake and exhaust are in different locations. The door for the radiator filler is in a different location also as I recall.
1960 440 ICD with 602 blade

Thanks for the reply and the info yellowcrawler. The man at Farm Parts told me it must of been a hood off a gas job. It had a tag attached that it was for a 440. It was about ten inches shorter than the one I have. The one I have almost looks homemade. Pretty beat up too. It might have to due.
This is my first go-round with a crawler loader and I am getting an education.

Looking at the parts book the late ICD (diesel) and ALL the ICs (gas) used the same frame rails so the hoods should be the same length either GAS or DIESEL... X2 with yellowcrawler .....so who knows what that hood they sold you fits
2010 with 622 dozer with mod. 35 ripper and a 2010 with 622 dozer bought in 1969 and a 2010 loader with drott and mod. 36 ripper
My guess would be a 1010 or 350 hood.

i think your right Wilbur(pipeline version hood).
there was a 430 version of crawler that was propane powered,
the tank was located between the dash and hood,
hence a shorter hood. its different from 440's thou.
this version also had a hardnose.
maybe used in mining???
here is a pix on other website,

440icd/602/8a,,440icd/831/ripper,,440icd/831/3pt.,misc. 440 parts, i have 5 of these now, but i can stop anytime
The crawler in the pic is not factory built, I've known the crawler for a long time, knew the first owner for 30 years. That is a built crawler, Deere never made a hard nose propane. He did that for the fun of it, made a nice looking crawler, and quite the conversation piece.
