Oil in rollers

I have bottom rollers with the center plug in them. I am told that they take oil, not grease. I opened one and it is indeed oil. Any idea what weight oil goes in these?
JD dealer said 30 WT ND, another source said same as tranny and finals.
I wish there was one correct answer to these lube questions. LOL

My inclination would be 90 wt, but you are talking a later model or aftermarket roller, so I am not sure.

Thanks for the reply. I agree, seems like 30 would just be too light. I do not have a mfg or model number for these rollers, they replaced some of the originals.

My 450 - c has those type rollers and it is indeed a 30 wt oil you should use. If yuo use a heavier oil in them when they are in good shape they will not lube properly and will be damaged. Even a worn one with bad seals won't lube well with 90 weight. This is per the JD service manuel I have
The way to fill is to place a grease fitting in the center hole and remove the other plug. Fill with pressure gun Gently until the oil flows out the other hole. Replace plug, remove grease fitting and immediately replace other plug. BTW the manuel says loctite is to be used on the pipe plugs.

I have been using corn head grease for years without a problem. Close in viscosity doesn"t leak out. Dozer Dave
