Hello, I am currently rebuilding the side frames of my 440. Extraction of bolts, then sandblast. More than 2 lines= debug mode... sorry

I will install new rollers and hardware, paint them etc. I ve been told to not put the rock guards on because they just pack the mud, dirt between them and break bolts. Especially if they don t help to guide the chain, i m thinking about not installing them. What is your idea on that? I use the dozer in the woods so it drives on soil, mud, vegetation but no rocks. Thanks!

Hi,
Today is seems to want short paragraphs, no more than two lines, even when editing. Sigh.

Thanks pop pop. If it helps guiding the rails i will install them otherwise it would be off to help self cleaning. Do you think roller flanges alone are not enough?
Thanks
Thanks

I have one on, and the other off, on my 350b. Three times I have had the track off on the side without the guards. Every time in a hole or in deep bush, Each time I promise myself to put that one back on. It is still off. This spring I promise.

Scottyb, thanks for your input. That s exactly why the dozer is in the garage this winter for. I don t want to throw a track off in the woods anymore... i will install them. Better work in the garage than in the mud trying to be back on tracks.

Rockguards are structural on any 5 roller crawler, always reinstall.

Thanks Lavoy. I will. About the 10 spacer pipes... The id of the spacer pipe is .824 on jdparts.com. The original bolt that goes through it is 5/8. I Think i will install 3/4 threaded rod in there. Rock guard to track frame bolts are all 9/16 now from previous repair i guess. Some more work ahead.
