the 6 way

takes a while to cycle up or down....it does eventually lift the blade and then is strong....same with down pressure..takes a bit and then is strong...will certainly lift front end of dozer.

i suspect either low on fluid or is there a filter that needs cleaning? if so where is it located....want to get into it once it home friday

jd440 does have a cartridge screw on filter in the line....and a pressure gauge in hydraulic cylinder at end on right cylinder....is liquid filled type gauge 0-2000...took it out and oil to it and does not appear plugged....do these things just quit registering?..does not appear broken..and looks like production made to receive the gauge
also looks like mite have to adjust left steering brake and few other things

More than likely worn pump. No factory filters on 440. Could be thick cold hydro oil or the wrong fluid. I doubt it is low on fluid if it was it would jerk as it goes up and down due to getting air.

well

now got her home....and after looking closely i find that i have a pressure gauge on right hand lifting cylinder and also a spin on filter cartridge in line to/from pump..

pressure 0-2000 manufacturer is M...small print can not read...BUT it does not register any pressure and does NOT appear broken....possible plugged? ..blade does take a while to cycle to both lift and down pressure...will get gauge off and see if plugged and find out what filter she takes..may be issue there?

throttle seems to not advance much will look at linkage and etc...
