JD 440 ICD fuel shut off
Would anyone that has an original fuel shut off on their GM 2-53 diesel please post pictures of what it looks like? My old parts book does not show the parts.
Mine was taken off and they just had the throttle set to shut it down.
I like my throttle set to around 600 RPM at idle, so I want to build the parts to make it shut down at the governor. It looks simple, I just need a shot or two to figure it out. Mine has the cast piece that the rotating piece goes in, and the clamp that holds that end of the cable that runs to the dash.
Any help would be appreciated.

Michael,
Yes, I am very interested. Please send those PICS and if you can make two of "phase two", I could use one. That would save me from "reinventing the wheel", so to speak.

Michael,
Is fuel shutoff not available from JD dealer, and is that why you built your own? Did you try repairing yours before manufacturing a replacement? The fuel shutoff of the 2 cyl diesel in my 440IC doesn't work right and needs to be replaced or repaired, what do you charge for "Michael Manufacturing" replacement, thanks.

there were only ~11,000 2-53s used in the 435 and 440 in '59 and '60. the gas engine was the same more or less as used in the 420 and 430. don't have a clue as to how many gas motors were made but i 'spect it was many times the number of diesels.
a number of parts made or used by deere for the 2-53 just for this application. you're not gonna find them anywhere anymore. go online at johndeere.com and see for yourself.
my shutoff was missing as was i suspect more than few others are/were. haven't figured out what to charge. doesn't take long to make one. pm me with your address and i'll make sure you get one.
