The specifications for the hydraulic pump is 950 psi and up to 9 or 10 gallons per minute of flow, depending on the throttle position. How are you checking your hydraulic level in the tank? With the blade up or down? If you add hydraulic fluid while having this problem, does it help or do you get fluid coming out of the tank like its over filled? There is a small metal plate right below the filler tube that helps prevent the fluid from coming up the tube, but when filling the tank this also can trick you into thinking the tank is full because it takes a little time for the fluid to go past this small metal plate. I got tricked a long time ago from this.

420 hyd issue

Notmeu, thank you for your reply.
I filled the tank with the blade on the ground, check the level on the hyd dipstick prior to each use, & since all of the leaks have been fixed, have not had to add any for a while.
I will admit though, now that i am thinking about it that when i had the front end off, radiator etc. that i added a 45* brass elbow on the top of the hyd. Pump, so that hose angled better to connect to the single remote valve.
Could it be that it may be restricting the flow too much?
Also i will get a pressure guage and ck the pressures @ the single remote.

Just make sure your pressure is below 1000 psi or you will damage the pump.

Hyd issue & throttle issue

Post by theshanmand1! » Wed Mar 01, 2017 8:25 am

Hello all,
Plowed the drive over the holiday weekend, she had been sittn since summer.
Fired up on 2nd pull, no choke! Wow!
Still did the same thing with the hyd. Will have to troubleshoot it this summer
Also, a different issue came up, twice when I tapped the throttle up, it went to full throttle, and would not come back down, almost like the linkage was stuck or governer issue. Turned the key off, before she blew up.
Pulled the hood, checked the linkage, worked it back and forth
Fired it up, operated correctly, acted up once more, then no more
Has anyone ever experienced these things with thier crawlers?
Any input, help, advice, criticism etc will be accepted graciously.
I see a lot of views on many posts, but for some reason, replies, not so much.?
Stan? Lavoy? Guys? Anything?

Hi,

When was the last time you lubed up the governor unit and the linkage? Sounds like you have a case of the Stickies there....

Before tearing into the governor disconnect it from the carburetor, open the throttle butterfly forcefully, and see if it wants to stick there.

Thanks O-Possum,
Will do.
As I tapped the throttle up with the palm of my hand, she shot to full throttle
On its own, quickly I tried to throttle down, but nothn doin.
Turned key off.
It did that twice.
Never had before.
After working the throttle back and forth fired it up
And ran fine the rest of the day.
Very strange
