hydraulic gauges

Post by dtoots1 » Mon Mar 13, 2017 3:28 pm

researching on hydraulic gauges and find that manufacturers recommend that you should use a gauge for twice the pressure in the system, seems the the mechanism...a tube of boron something....actually gets stressed or worn out much quicker when tops out to the limit...example should use 4000psi for a 2000psi system. does make kinda sense.....also i note that hydraulics use only up to 1/4npt fittings.

Hi,

The tube is curved and anchored only at the inlet end. The other end is loose and linked to the pointer. In operation, the tube flexes from the pressure and moves the pointer. Flexing it all the way all the time will lead to early failure. So, the gauge ought to point to the center of the range when things are normal.

hydraulic gauges

Post by dtoots1 » Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:11 pm

well the new gauge does not show any pressure either...

gauge is located on the hydraulic cylinder, on right hand side of dozer, by your right foot, it has a pipe el in it so gauge is away from the hoses. where is the correct place to put the gauge? Blade is a number 64 6-way, know i have plenty of pressure as blade will pick up front end easily

figure at that end..should only show pressure on downstroke after thinking about it!!! will see.
