1010 fix or part it

Post by Antler boy » Sun Apr 09, 2017 5:14 am

I have a 1010 project. I purchased it scrap value but I hope to make it usable again. The previous owner pulled the old gas engine when it went bad. He dropped a cummins diesel, fit and hook up look pretty good. Overall the track looks to be usable shape still and has a 6 way blade. My question is this, it looks like the cummins rotates cw when facing the front. Is this the correct rotation? Thanks in advance.

I hope that is a really small Cummins or the drivetrain will not survive for long.
Rotation sounds correct.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it is too large so a replacement engine if available may be the best option if down the road. For now i plan to start going through and checking it all out so I can make a decision on it.

i think there are a bunch of other older small plain engines that would be a better choice, some may even bolt right onto bell.
440icd/602/8a,,440icd/831/ripper,,440icd/831/3pt.,misc. 440 parts, i have 5 of these now, but i can stop anytime

Antler Boy-

There are a number of posts from several years back where we discussed sources of used replacement engines for 1010 crawlers- the obvious ones were other 1010 crawlers, and 2010 crawlers if you wanted a reasonable power upgrade. However other sources included wheel tractors, combines, etc. that used engines similar to those used in the 1010s and 2010s.
