Question about crawler 810-820

Post by 2010Crawler » Mon May 15, 2017 11:40 am

In Germany, John Deere crawlers of the type 810-820 are always offered for sale. They look just like the 2010 crawlers. A special difference can be seen in the cocpit.
I would like to be able to give an answer only for questions, so a question to you:
Does anyone know the 810-820 John Deere Crawler?

Greetings from germany

That is the designation of the loader itself, not the actual crawler.

Hello Lavoy,
Please look at the crawler's cockpit.
That looks different from the 2010

Yeah, I screwed up, yellow one is 2010, red one appears to be 1010.

Thank you for your answers.
Why is there 810-820 on the type plate?

Those are the loader models. 1010s used a 810 loader, 2010s used a 820.

Hi,

There are serial number plates on the crawler, but they are harder to spot than the ones on the attachments (bulldozer or loader).

The serial number plate for the 1010 should be on right hand side engine block when sitting on crawler; there is a small flat spot on the block about halfway up to down on block and about 1/2 way back. The 2010 serial number plate may either be in same location as 1010 (for early crawlers less than 42,000 serial number) or on left hand side bellhousing behind engine (for serial number greater than 42,000). You have to be somewhat careful relying on the engine data plate because it is possible someone swapped the engine at some point.

Hi,

Each plant is assigned blocks of SNs. When they use up a block, they get a new one. So, they are sequential by plant within the block, then jump over to the start of a new block.

I was looking at the serial numbers on the 350 in 87 it looks like about 10000 were made in the years prior to that some years had less than 5000.

If that's world wide distribution no wonder they stopped making them.
