Hi,

Because it was originally for the industrial market. Until the advent of the 440 series, all Dubuque machines were the same for the ag and ind markets - except for the paint color used. A lot of folks have painted over yellow with green. ;)

So is what you're saying, all 40C's were painted industrial yellow but the ones headed for AG were then painted green?

No, paint was just an option, they could be either color. What I have heard of happening is that the dealer had an industrial yellow crawler on the lot that did not sell, and to sell it to an ag customer, they repainted it green.

Hi,

Some owners get a yellow one and decide to paint it green as well. I have also seen machines in other colors for commercial outfits which repaint things in their colors.

Unless you have one where it has been in the family since it was new, any color paint might be found. It has been a long time.

So does this mean either color would be considered accurate in terms of a true to original restoration ?

Yes. If yourself want to be sure, have it archived, original color may be listed.

Good idea , however 2 cylinder told me it could be 8 months to year or more to get a serial number document back due to China virus backlog
