Hi: I've read that an undersized starter cable "starves" the ignition system during starting; too much resistance. I replaced mine, on my 6v 420 system, with an "O" cable made from welding cable and soldered on ends. I know that Lavoy has commented on the cable sizes he recommends too. Good luck. Paul

Hi,

Oh, yes. Voltage drop is a function of the *square* of the current. And, the current is double in a 6v than it is in a 12v, so it really gets you. And, the ignition pickoff is right at the starter end of the cable, so it is very easy to drop enough voltage where there will no longer be spark.
