Jd 1010 with 145 diesel engine

Post by Ajnilson » Wed Aug 16, 2017 7:23 pm

Hi guys! Thanks for the add! This fourm is awsome for info. I have a l
Late model 1010 last year before the 350's. I got it with a siezed engine year ago. It looks like it was run on gas as there was gas fumes in tank. I have pulled motor out as i have another 1010 thats older with a gas motor. My question is the newer 1010 has a reverser and theolder 1010 does not. Will the flywheel n clutch work on the gas engine from the diesel? Also it seems like clutch wasnt working as i was moving machine trying to get motor to free up. Would tracks rotate engine if it was in gear moving? Also is it worth rebuild that diesel or stick with gas engine. Im having a hard time in finding parts for that engine. Any tips or ideas? Would love to kno tips n updates for this machine as it has alot if house work up ahead!

Thanks
Aj

The engine won't turn over while pulling the machine around if it has a reverser. I would rebuild the gas engine because it would be less expensive and the 1010 diesel were noted for being hard to start. JD used glow plugs and a fuel primer to aid in the starting but it wasn't enough. They recommended not using starting fluid because it tended to break piston rings. A gaser with a reverser has plenty of power and the hydraulic reverser makes it a smooth working machine.
