tracks

Post by danny » Fri Sep 01, 2017 5:09 pm

Hello
I need my memory jogged regarding tracks. Will 40 tracks fit on my 420 4 roll? Plus or minus a link?
I have a chance to buy a good set and my 420 tracks are tired.
Thanks
Dan

They are different links and pin and bushing size than a 420.

Danny
I can attest the 40C belt will fit your 420C but as noted by lavoy they are "different". Unbeknownst to me, My 'Project" 420C had 40C crawler belts when I purchased it. The belt was worn and out of pitch. A former owner also had apparently removed a link in each belt to accomadate the wear. What I know:

420C belt: (also 430C & 440C)
pins ~ 1" OD
bushings- ~1.56" OD
link depth ~3"
40C belt:
pins-~7/8" OD
bushings- ~1.38" OD
link depth ~2,5"
With the same apparent pitch, the 40C links seem to fit the 420C but they have significantly less strength (as evidenced by the 420C links extended usage to the 430C & 440C)

Interested to know how this works out for you. In my case I have been "collecting" used 420C links from salvage yards and NOW Have enough to make 2 complete belts. Considering converting to oversize take-up tumblers at the same time.

Lavoy- I plan to call you in the newt few weeks to discuss installation of new pins & bushings (I live in Wisconsin but can deliver to Fargo)

Mike
