40c PTO

Post by fundytides » Thu Sep 07, 2017 5:24 am

Do I need the same PTO attachment for either the regular or the high speed outlets on the rear transmission cover?

No PTO attachment for the high speed shaft. PTO goes in the bottom hole only.

So, if I want to hook a Braden winch up to the high speed shaft, what do I use?

Winch is PTO only, not high speed. Almost nothing hooks to the high speed shaft. Only two I have ever known of is Carco winch, and one aftermarket backhoe.

Thanks Lavoy. Looks like I'll have to find a PTO attachment if I am going to buy this winch. The owners manual that I have for the crawler mentioned that the high speed outlet is used for things like winches and hydraulic pumps so that had me hopeful that I wouldn't need the PTO attachment.

I just installed a pto shaft on my 40c five roller. The ones for the crawler is different than the ones on the tractors being longer on the part that fits into the cavity of the crawler.I had a short shaft from a 40w.The coupling used on the tractors are p/n m2746t or m2350t and has changed to t24774 used on several tractors.I found one on amazon took it to a driveshaft shop that makes automotive driveshafts for race cars and hotrods had them machine weld the two couplings together.reinstalled the coupling on the 40w pto shaft and installed on my crawler. It works great and does not stick out past the drawbar.Going to bush hog pastures where there are a lot of thorn bushes tired of flat tires on tractor.
