Stud fastener for 420C
Stud fastener for 420C
Does anyone know of a source for the stud fastener (#315T for the hood of a 420C. I need a couple, and I checked with the local John Deere dealer today and they are more than $20 a piece.
Thanks
Thanks

I carry both styles, but normally use only the threaded one. I have a better system than the glue on nut though.

Thanks for the help.
Re: Stud fastener for 420C
I believe these are 1/4 turn fasterners named after their inventor, Dzus fasteners.
Re: Stud fastener for 420C
The ones used on the crawler are Airloc. Dzus uses a mounted pin in the receptacle and the stud threads onto it. Airloc is the opposite, the pin is in the stud, and the receptacle receives the pin.

Hi,
AKA, Airloc working around the Dzus patent back in the day.
Both were designed to secure aircraft panels. Used a lot on racing cars as well. If I had a nickel for every Turnlock (the generic name for these sorts of things) fastener I turned on a race car or aircraft......
In either type, the idea is the same: vibrations will not loosen, nor continue to loosen, such a fastener in way they can a threaded fastener. Plus, they are quicker to do and undo. Plus, both the 'screw' and the 'nut' are retained. So, no dropping anything in the pits.
Oh, and 'Dzus' is pronounced 'Zeus', like the Greek God. Just in case anyone was getting tripped up by a Ukrainian name. William Dzus. Not quite the story John Deere has, but it is nice when I see things carrying the name of the inventor.

Re: Stud fastener for 420C
Anybody have a source for the "nut" clip? One of mine was messed up & I had to cut the "bolt" to get the hood off. Got the replacement "bolt" already, but don't want it getting jammed in the nut clip thing again. I can find a number of sources for the bolt, but none for the nut.
