Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Hi,
The 2500 psi spring is lighter than the 1000 psi one? Nope. Don't make sense to me, either.

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
LAVOY and others,
ok...so if by chance eaton corp sent the wrong spring...what will that do to pressure? i don't seem to have any at the gauge which i deadheaded to the lift hose....i have not tried to lift the blade as yet as nose still off....had rad back on and took that off again and the pump to make sure drive gear was engaged properly....before i put all this back together i would sure like to see results..
seems to me if spring too heavy it would not let any pressure thru....tho while testing this thing and no reading i went to other side and took plug out of deadhead and touched the lift lever and squirted hydraulic oil out!

Re: jd440ic pressure relief issues
well went to hydraulic shop talked to their tech..told them that spring has got to be a problem...wire itself is twice as thick as the 2500psi spring that tested out to 2500psi....so he calls eaton corp tech explains problem and tech guy says...that sure aint right...let me check further....so now i have to just hurry and wait....
seems to me if springs about twice size/strength of 2500psi must be about 5000psi and i aint getting a pressure reading on gauge, so no pressure at all?

Hi,
Well, a relief valve opens at the specified pressure. Oil lifts the valve seat against the spring pressure. If it is indeed too high things break. Like pump parts and lines. Hope that isn't why you see no pressure now.....

Re: jd440ic pressure relief issues
well according to the gurus at the pressure relief supplier......the 1000psi valve cartridge is mated to valve/spool itself.... ''The spring tension has nothing to do with the way the valve relieves pressure. It is controlled by the valve/spool itself.'' copied and pasted from my email ..
so now on to figuring this out....metal line from filter fitting/flange prior owner has silicone caulking around apparently sealing a leak...this was broke loose when changing to new pump.....would air leak be likely culprit?

This is the type of adjustable relief valve that I used.I installed it in the pressure line between pump
and spool valve.Works great and reasonable priced.Adjustable from 400 to 3000 psi.
Just google 30 GPM relief valve 8688947

well that aint quite the problem...i have the1000psi relief valve...so still trying to figure out problem...the silicone sealant is on the suction line to the pump from the reservoir, so i can only assume must have had air leak, which seems could cause problem i am experiencing...
but thanks for info, someone else may well need it too.

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
well only thing i can do now is have 3 spool tested again and show me 1000psi is working..if so must be the pump.
Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
we'll here is the latest.....
i took my 'new' pump off the blamed thing and put the old one back on....check the gauge and it runs up to almost 800psi!!!!
so....now...i broke the silicone seal on the suction side fitting at the pump and still wonder if possible air leak there could be causing problem??? So who out there is got any answers? now i still hear the 'whirring' noise when i use the lift lever.....is that telling me something? i recall reading something about that somewhere.
do i still need to take 3spool off and have them show me the 1000psi relief pressure works??? i really don't know if that spring controls the relief pressure but i had always understood that is what the spring tension does. who knows i sure don't.

Re: jd440ic cam pumps?????
LAVOY,
do you have any working cam pumps available?

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
worked my dozer for a bit and my old pump just aint going to hack it......wont lift blade ,,,and very hesitant to move angle and tilt...new pump didn't show any pressure at all...twice...soon as put old pump on i got pressure reading
Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
I do not sell pumps that have not been taken apart by me. I probably have one I can check, or enough parts to build one with new bearings, seals, O-rings, shaft seals, polished housings and good gears runs $350.

hang onto that...i intend to check pressure again and see what that tells me...sure is aggravating...will call when i get it checked out. am also checking out a source to make gears and shafts if you mite be interested
Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
Already checked into it, no one would pay that much money for what it would cost. Deere made 30-50,000 machines with that pump, finding a rebuildable used one will never be a problem, and I have pretty good luck with them being good to start with.

Re: jd440ic charging issues & hyd cyl issues
ok was able to check pressure again....it reads at 600psi...when cold...seems after i use it a spell it get reluctant to lift the blade...after rebuilding the cylinders and getting 3 spool checked i can't see where any other problem would be other than the pump itself....thou it sure surprises me that i couldn't get a reading on my 'new' used pump.
still have not gotten an answer as to whether that silicone over the top of the flanged nut on the suction hose could be maybe stopping an air leak....dont know how in the world to check for an air leak...any suggestions and whether that would be causing problem? by the way no oil leaks at all around it or at the pump
also need to know is a starter for diesel same as for gas..i have a good working diesel starter and wonder if i might need it later for my gas engine.
