I have a 420 engine in my 40c,had to change radiator to a 420 radiator,420 radiator bracket and throttle bracket that bolts to thermostat housing.every thing else is the same.A 430 tractor should have all that you need.Mine runs great but pulling engine to fix what broke in the clutch area.

Just the opposite! I have a 40 engine in my 420C. Bell housing and engine mounts bolt up. I have a mickey moused 2 piece upper radiator hose to adapt the 420 (I think) radiator to the 40 engine. The 40 carb inlet OD is, I believe, 1/8" smaller than that of the air cleaner (or that of a 420C carb.) making the rubber elbow connector a bit difficult to connect. I had bought a new aftermarket connector for a 420, but it was so stiff, I used the old hose and used duct tape to replace the end that had been eaten away. If I am incorrect on this info, I'll gladly defer to the gurus. :-)
