Crawler JD420C, 1st gear pops out

Post by Jeru » Wed Sep 19, 2018 5:53 am

Hello Everyone

I just got a old JD Crawler in rough shap. There are a few things who need attention but they are all very straightforward.
But one thing I need some info or advice. The first gear pops out under a bit of load! Even if it goes just up a hill.
All the other gears are fine.
Dose anybody has some experience with that?

Please let me know. Thanks have a great week

Jens

Bad bearings and/or gears. Take the top cover off the trans and look at the gear, I would get it is tapered.

Thank you. I will look at that. At least now I know what to look for.
