40c final drive oil seal

Post by Hivonoch » Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:18 am

hi, I would like to know if I must have to install the oem am2723t oil seal on the final drive or I can use a standard aftermarket oil seal like timken or skf?

Thank you

If the crawler will never see anything but a trailer and a show grounds the rest of it's life you will be fine, otherwise, the Deere seal is necessary, as is the tool to install it.
I have the tools on hand, should have a seal on hand as well.

Good to know so I will use a John Deere am2723t seal and for all other internal seals I guess that aftermarket seals are ok?

Yes and no, it varies with the seal, and some of the current seals Deere sells are not correct any more as well. Over the years, some of the seals they sell are inferior to the the ones they originally sold, but some guy in a cubicle some where ordered them, so that is what they sell.

The triple lip am2723t seal does not exist yet anymore at deere dealer and it was replaced n’y am939t seal. So this seal is a standard seal not a triple lip seal.

I don't know who you get your information from, but get a new source. AM2723T is current and returnable from Deere, and at this moment they have 112 on hand.
I currently have 3 on hand, just picked them up a few day ago.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, you can not install the AM2723T correctly without using the seal installation tool.
