rpm's

Post by barnie » Sat Nov 18, 2006 7:22 pm

i'm having trouble getting my 440 to rev up to the rated rpm's for fast idle.it will rev to 2050/2130 rpm but can't seem to get it any more than this,i timed it at roughly 28 degrees with a light and it runs ok but has a stumble in it. i out on new spark plugs ,wires, but cant seem to get the full rpm out of it by adjusting the govener screw. the screw is almost all the way out and stiil can't reach full rpm, also with it set this way it will not idle down to 600 like the book says. lowest it will go is 950,i can get it to around 750 by lenghtening the rod from the throttle to the govener but then only will reach 1800 rpm.just curious if anyone has an idea on this and what might the length of those linkages be to the govener and from govener to carburator. any info would be great thanks barnie
