Just in case someone may be interested, I've managed to remove the welded in place rock shields and rollers from one side of my 420. Several hours with various grinders, and a lot of work with an air chisel, and they are all apart. I've cleaned up the bolt holes, and will use some lock-tight on new bolts, and back with nuts where possible, to reinstall. Now, I'm welding up the gouges that I made. I will grind it back to normal, and I think the whole mess can be salvaged. A little painting before it goes back to gether, and it should look presentable.
Ain't retirement grand?

Hey, it keeps you out of trouble, and the wife always knows where you are at.

I wire welded the holes shut that where bad on mine and redrilled them and rethreaded them.

Howard,
So far, I haven't had to weld the holes, and rethread, but that was the plan. I think I salvaged them...I think. Where possible, I will back with nuts. But this is only one side. A lot of wire welding in other places, tho. Quite an experience.
