This is a picture of my gear selections on a JD 430 I just bought. 1st is missing.

Any thoughts on why 1st is blocked off? Do I just take that top cover off to see?

I have a google account (google drive and gmail work) but when I try to sign into your photos (previous post as well as this one), I get an error message,

"404. That’s an error.
The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know.", from Google.

I suggest you connect Lavoy at postmaster@jdcrawlers.com and get yourself set up to use the picture server for this site. There is information and instructions on the Messageboard Q&A and Announcements board about it.

Well, since I can't see the photo, I am going to guess.

Maybe it is Reverse that is meant to be blocked. If you have a reverser, it is common to have reverse blocked on the trans shift gate 'tower'. Running a reverser in reverse and the trans in reverse is Bad News for the reverser. So, it was common practice to block the trans lever from being able to select reverse.

Ya, sorry. I'm investigating picture posting now with Leroy.

The picture shows first gear blocked off. When pushing soil in 2nd, it's a little struggle. How do I go about inspecting? Take top cover off?
