Post by jacksonvine » Fri Jul 26, 2019 12:59 pm

I failed to mention in my earlier post concerning the bendix issue that I converted to a 12v system and kept the 6v starter, Thanks

Often times on 12 volts they are so violent as they spin up that the starter drive won't engage. Dumb as it sounds, it happens. These starters do not like a steady diet of 12 volts, and will eat themselves or the ring gear or both eventually. Other problem that causes this is drive binding on the armature.
