Post by dtoots1 » Thu Oct 17, 2019 9:50 am

Lavoy,
Lost my radiator cap for my jd40s wheeled tractor 1954.
Do you have available replacement cap or can i get usable at napa? not having issues with it off so appears doesn't require pressurized???

Hi,

No, they aren't pressurized. Thermosiphon system, so no water pump. Pressurizing will restrict the natural flow of water and cause overheating. You could use a pressure cap and drill a hole thru the center. But, then it won't have the copper wool packing which keeps the water from spitting out thru the vent hole. Best to get a proper old type cap.
