Thanks to Jim B, I found the right section of JDParts.com to get the JD numbers for the bearings in the transmission of my 420C.
Surprising me not at all, Mother Deere's pricing is breathtaking.
Anyone know of a source to cross JD's numbers to generic bearing sources?

Re: Crossing JD bearing numbers to generic
We use a bearing wholesaler here in BC, Canada. Usually you can see the numbers stamped in old bearings . With those numbers and your JD numbers and a bunch of leg work, you can usually save a bunch of money. Sometimes they can use measurement of bearings (and seals) and the bore and/or the shaft they ride on, and get a bearing (s) for you.
The wholesaler here is called Motion Canada, another is called Applied Technology.
If you get numbers from your bearings, sometime you can find on line. Most of these old girls have common bearings and seals.
You have to get all numbers and letters from old bearings, as each mean something. ie- a 6207 bearing could be a pilot brg, but a 6207 2RS is same bearing, but sealed both sides.
Good luck!

Getting numbers off the bearings is Plan B.
Jim B shot me some online cross-reference stuff from SKF and Federal-Mogul. Found most of them there.
Thanks for your response!

Re: Crossing JD bearing numbers to generic
I just used that site and crossed some of my 440ic transmission bearings. Noticed they are common modern wheel bearing numbers, and some can be bought at an RV dealer(trailer wheel bearings) for very cheap- like under $10 set, but they are made in China and will not live very long!! Be careful.

I stock and sell Timken bearings. If you want junk, I can sell junk too, but is it worth the gamble, more so in transmission bearings.
