440ic brake/clutch pedal

Post by gaspumpsam » Tue Nov 12, 2019 11:59 pm

Is the brake and clutch pedal both activated when one or other is pressed?
Got track frame assembly away from final drive/ transmission assembly, now to remove finals, clutches, and dismantle trans to find if I have more problems, other than first and second cluster gear.

The brake and clutch operate on concentric shafts, if proper maintenance has been preformed they operate separate from each other. They will rust together and then not work properly. A 440I has a zerk fitting on the left side to insert grease between them. I have heard of people trying to force some weasel piss in it try to get them freed up but do not know if they were successful. One of my 440ICDs is that way when I bought it.

Tks. I didn’t think that was proper, will get at removing shaft today, so will find out where they are seized.

Update for clutch and brake pedal shaft and rebuild of 440ic-
Got clutch housing and reverser housing off( no reverser) main input shaft has been welded, but looks like they did a good job( straight) noticed reverser housing full of rust, believe there was no breather, so housing couldnt breathe ??
Got lower trans shaft out, got RH final off and found oily mud. Steering clutch hub to final pinion shot. Have 6 metal and 7 fibre discs, full of rust, brake band seems not bad( full of rust)
Next will be to see damage in final( Rh) then remove LH and check, then trans, then start with parts list( ouch!!)
