420C Track adjustment

Post by jdman123 » Sun Dec 10, 2006 11:21 am

I was wondering how much trouble it is to adjust my tracks up on my 420c 5 roller. From the looks of it I don't think it has been moved in a long time. I noticed that someone had a track adjuster on e-bay for a 430c or 420c and the decription said that it was a hydraulic track adjuster. I did not think that they have one. I know that there are two long bolts on each side that go through the springs. Any tips?

Thanks
Shawn

Adjuster

Post by steamfitter99 » Sun Dec 10, 2006 12:49 pm

Hello, if it were me and it looks like the adjusters have not been touched in a long time, then I would take them off and rebuild them. It takes some 1" all thread and some 1" inch nuts. About 6 feet of all thread and 8 nuts and assoc hardware. I rebuilt my 420 about 8 years ago and do not regret it. Also, it would be a good time to check you front idler bushings. Just my two cents worth. Tom.

P.S. I also saw the hydraulic adjuster and am puzzled by it.

Hyd adjuster were an option, but what he has on E-bay is only a portion of the adjuster, there is no where near enough parts to make it work.
