Lindeman cutch adjustment

Post by judd » Sun Dec 29, 2019 8:18 am

Need advice on getting BO Lindeman clutch to "snap" engaged. Have read service manual and watched videos but no luck. Would appreciate some help.

Assuming nothing is broken or worn too far. Disengage clutch, loosen all 3 nuts. Reengage the clutch, tighten all 3 nuts with your fingers til they are tight. Disengage clutch, tighten each one a half turn, testing clutch each time you do. When you have the correct "snap" put in the cotter pins in the nuts.
Not probably the textbook version, but should be close.

Thanks, will give that a try. What mechanism actually makes it snap?

Referring to when the brass shifting fork over centers on the shifting collar? Thanks for your help on this.

Fork moves sleeve, toggle and dogs move inside of sleeve and over-center, locking clutch.

Thanks, if I can't adjust w/Lavoy's instruction may have to disassemble sleeve and examine.
