440 ic diesel

Post by gaspumpsam » Mon Mar 02, 2020 9:18 am

I have found a running wreck of a 440 ic but a diesel, the one I have is a gas, 1958 by serial #, is the engine clutch the same- gas or diesel? Trans- or is all diesels 5 spd? Are any of the drive line parts heavy- duty, because of the diesel- S. clutches or brakes and finals?

Trans is different than yours, not a direct replacement. All crawler after the diesel came out have the larger transmission, but there is not backwards compatibility due to side frame difference, bolt diameter and such from the earlier gas crawlers.

Finals are a serial number affair, no difference in case related to diesel.
