Serial number question on 440ICD

Just looked at a 440ICD with a serial number of 855874 and was curious as to the year it was manufactured.Thanks.

Just checked out the faqs page on the 440. Must of screwed up on the number. I'll check it out again.

Probably the first digit is a 4 instead of an 8. Here is the serial # range from the frequently asked question area:

1958-440,001 thru 444,127
1959-444,128 thru 453,872
1960-453,873 thru 461,929

So if it is 455874 instead of 855874 that would make it a 1960 vintage.

Vic,

I agree that the first number must be a "4", not an "8". Also, there are differences in the 1960 models such as a center dash up and down throttle lever, vesus the left side dash swing up and down lever on the 1959 models.
Let us know what you found and if you purchase it. They are loads of fun.
