420 6 volt starter
Switching my starter from 6 volt to 12 volt , i only got a quick look at it yesterday as it was pouring down here in washington state , do i need to remove the gas tank ? I only saw one bolt holding the starter in , and it was on the right side of the crawler , thanks in advance !

Re: 420 6 volt starter
It's been a while, but I never removed the gas tank to pull the starter. I may have had to remove the starter switch to gain some clearance. Good luck.

I usually unbolt the battery box tool box side, and then slide it back towards the seat. There is enough room to get it beside the dash as it slides back. That will give enough room to pull the starter back and remove it.

Ok , thanks for the info
Re: 420 6 volt starter
Or you could be like one of the previous owners of my 40c and just torch a hole in both sides of the toolbox big enough to slip the starter through .
